This success for the latest-generation, French-developed helicopter marks a new milestone in its worlwide presence.
It follows the certification validation by 10 different authorities, the first one being the European Aviation Safety Agency, and the latest one being the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in 2015.
About a year of efficient cooperation led to this success, including on-the-ground and in-flight thorough evaluation by Transport Canada.
According to Bruno Guimbal, president and CEO of Hélicoptères Guimbal (HG): “We at HG are very satisfied to enter the Canadian market because it is an important helicopter country with a large range of operators and a solid aviation culture. The perspective in the future is very good. We have already several customers and many prospects.”
The first Canadian Cabri G2, was delivered this month to Mischa and Sancho Gelb, owners of British Columbia-based BC Helicopters. It is currently being transported to Canada. BC Helicopters ordered an initial two Cabri G2s.
Two more helicopters are in final completion for other Canadian customers.
One hundred and ninety Cabri G2s have been delivered to date in 28 different countries, with a production rate of five per month.
About 70 percent of them are used for professional training and the rest for various missions, with close to 120,000 flight hours and no injury.
