Airbus booked 26 orders from its A320 and A330 product lines in July, while the month’s 49 deliveries were composed of A320 Family, A330 and A380 aircraft.
An undisclosed customer ordered 25 A321neo aircraft, marking another major endorsement for the new engine option (NEO) versions of Airbus’ best-selling single-aisle jetliners. It also highlights the growing market demand for larger, fuel-efficient aircraft – as the A321 is the longest-fuselage variant in the A320 Family.
Also in July, the Groupe Dubreuil acquired an A330-300 in the latest 242 metric ton maximum take-off weight configuration, becoming a new customer for the versatile A330 widebody jetliner series.
The month’s transactions brought Airbus’ 2015 net orders to 367 aircraft through July, which takes into account cancellations and delivery slot releases.
Deliveries during July involved 45 A320 Family aircraft, two A330s and two A380s. This included the first A321 for Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest carrier – which became a new Airbus operator through its contract with the ICBC Leasing Company.
In 2015, Airbus completed 353 deliveries to 72 customers from January through July, compared to 352 during the same period last year.
Based on the month’s order and delivery activity, Airbus’ backlog of aircraft to be delivered totalled 6,400 jetliners as of July 31.
