PRESS RELEASE
Monday, 24th April 2017 – Alsim is pleased to announce the sale of an ALX Light Turboprop to Aeronav Academy, a flight school based in Lanseria, South Africa.
The ATO noticed the increasing trend to make maximum use of simulators in flight training and testing. Aeronav Academy saw that they needed to also offer simulator training to complement their theory and flight training and to extend their training offer to include advanced topics such as RNAV and TCAS.
To meet this demand, the flight school considered several FSTD manufacturers and eventually chose Alsim and its ALX flight simulator.
Several reasons led Aeronav Academy to this choice, as Donald O’Connor, Managing Director, explains, “The ALX can be configured for different uses, from single engine aeroplanes for early training such as for the night rating, to advanced training such as MCC and radar, in the light turboprop twin. Panel layout is consistant with modern design and emphasis on “glass cockpit” -as in our DA42- and graphics, control feel and response are amazingly realistic”. He emphasizes: “Certification and acceptance by leading aviation authorities such as EASA and the FAA make it acceptable for the widest range of our international students. And, last but not least, Alsim is well-known for its progressive improvement in its technology and strong user support.”
Aeronav Academy is a long established aviation-training organisation, with equal emphasis on theory and practical flight training. Aeronav Academy’s training notes are used by many private candidates as well as other flight training organisations to prepare for South Africa’s CAA examinations for pilot’s licences and Instrument Rating.
Their philosophy in practical flight training is to use modern, well-maintained aeroplanes so that students can count on a safe and reliable training programme. Their fleet includes two Diamond DV20 and one Diamond DA42 Twinstar. Aeronav Academy’s students come from both South Africa and many other countries, mainly from Africa and the Middle East.
ALSIM has been developing and manufacturing FAA & EASA certified flight simulators since 1994. Today, the company has more than 260 devices certified and in service worldwide with over 160 customers.
