INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE WEEK – MONTREAL – 2017
Major partnership in the cluster of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System
Montréal, April 3rd 2017 – The President of Aéro Montréal, Ms. Suzanne Benoît, along with the Director General of the Unmanned Aerial System Centre of Excellence (UAS CE), Mr. Marc Moffatt, have signed earlier today an important letter of agreement to define their partnership in the field of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
By signing this agreement, Aéro Montréal and the UAS Centre of Excellence agree to work together in establishing an RPAS working group. By this letter they also agree to facilitate discussions through various events, promoting individual and common objectives, as well as supporting the establishment of a Québec RPAS Centre of Excellence.
This letter has been signed in the presence of the Québec minister of Economy, Science and Innovation (MESI) and minister responsible of the Digital Strategy, Mrs Dominique Anglade, during the International Aerospace Week – Montreal – 2017. This letter of agreement will more particularly allow to jointly develop an action plan, necessary for the implementation of Québec wide working group, as well as to organize events related to the development of an RPAS cluster at the UAS Centre of Excellence.
“The Remotely Piloted Aircraft System sector is booming. It has enormous potential for our Québec aerospace cluster companies, especially SMEs. Already, several companies in our industry are being proactive in penetrating this sector. Our strategy at Aéro Montréal is aligned with that of the federal and provincial governments, which recently announced incentives in their respective budgets to encourage innovation and excellence. I am very pleased with this agreement with the CED because it is part of this approach and supports the Québec aerospace ecosystem”, said President of Aéro Montréal, Ms. Suzanne Benoît.
The Director General of the UAS Centre of Excellence, Mr. Marc Moffatt further explained: “In the latest Québec Aerospace Strategy 2016-2026, the Québec government recognizes the importance of developing a regional ecosystem dedicated the civilian RPAS. The collaboration between the UAS CE and Aéro Montréal becomes therefore a very important alliance for the development of the Québec RPAS industry and community. Both organizations will join their efforts to position the Québec’s know-how in this area”, added Mr. Moffatt.
