Lockheed Martin Corporation Chairman, President and CEO, Ms. Marillyn Hewson, will give a keynote speech at the Global Networking Forum, Wednesday 14 October (12:00-12:30) during the 66th International Astronautical Congress – IAC 2015 to be held in Jerusalem from 12-16 October 2015. The IAC is organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and its partners, the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), and hosted by the Israel Space Agency.
With more than 50 nations having current or planned space programs, space has never been a more globally-oriented endeavor. “The next space age starts now, and with today’s technology, we are closer to the stars every day,” said Ms. Marillyn Hewson. “We have an exciting opportunity to realize the full potential of space exploration and its many benefits to our nations, our industries and our next generation. This will only happen if we work together to strengthen our global partnerships and collaboration.”
The future will see international partners working together to unlock the power of space to bring connectivity to every corner of the globe, strengthen global security, and push the boundaries of exploration. We must continue to strengthen an already robust set of international partnerships in space, and work collaboratively to realize the full potential of space exploration.
This event titled, “There are No Borders in Space: International Cooperation Will Drive the New Space Age,” is open to journalists and all IAC attendees, and is organized by Lockheed Martin Corporation – IAC 2015 International Anchor Sponsor.
Lockheed Martin will also have an exhibit at the IAC emphasizing many of the Corporation’s international partnerships. Ahighlight of the booth will be a display of heat shield tiles from the Orion EFT-1 capsule, which orbited Earth in December 2014 as the first step in proving the technology for a manned mission to Mars and beyond. The exhibit will also include a demonstration of 3-D printing to highlight the advanced manufacturing techniques the company now employs in satellite production.
