INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE WEEK – MONTRÉAL 2017
Montréal, April 3, 2017 — Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, kicked off this morning the International Aerospace Week – Montréal in the presence of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Ms. Dominique Anglade, Québec’s Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation. This event provided an opportunity for Aéro Montréal to announce the launch of the Portail Croissance Sécurité Défense Québec.
The Week kicked off with a Seminar on Defence and Royal Canadian Air Force projects. The Québec aerospace industry needs to be proactive in the defence and national security markets. It is with this in mind that Aéro Montréal is setting up initiatives and tools to support the growth of companies in this sector and to contribute to raising awareness about their know-how in Canada and abroad.
“Aéro Montréal will develop the Croissance Sécurité Défense Québec (CSDQ) Portal to further optimize the effectiveness and tangible benefits of business development efforts being made by defence and security companies,” said Suzanne M. Benoît, President Aéro Montréal. “The Portal, which is part of the Québec Aerospace Strategy, will be developed in collaboration with Sous-traitance industrielle Québec (STIQ) and Québec International (QI). It will address all areas of the defence and national security ecosystem: aerospace, land, maritime, C4ISR.”
Through the Québec Aerospace Strategy, the Government of Québec is supporting the know-how, innovation and strengthening of aerospace supply chains. “The support and development of our SMEs are a central focus, especially in the face of the digital shift and international business opportunities. The Portail Croissance Sécurité Défense Québec (CSDQ) will be a valuable tool to increase the visibility and competitiveness of SMEs in the security and defence markets, both regionally and globally.”
The Portail Croissance Sécurité Défense Québec will offer a range of services to companies and organizations wishing to increase their activities in the field of national security and defence.
Also with a view to ensuring the involvement of Québec’s aerospace SMEs in the defence and national security sectors, Aéro Montréal recently produced a directory of Québec’s industrial capabilities in matters of defence, available on its website.
