Famed Moonwalker Buzz Aldrin to Attend Worldís Largest Space Conference in Jerusalem

Second Man on the Moon To Join in International Astronautical Congress in October 2015

 

(August, 5, 2015) NASA astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin will visit Israel for the first time to participate in the International Astronautical Congress hosted by the Israel Space Agency set to take place October 12-16th 2015. Dr. Aldrinís visit to Jerusalem comes forty-six years after he and fellow astronaut Neil Armstrong were the first people to land and walk on the moon on July 20th and 21st 1969.

Since retiring from NASA and the US Air Force, Aldrin has become a prolific author and inventor with numerous patents in his name. Aldrin has remained at the forefront of efforts to further human space exploration devising a master plan for missions to Mars known as the ìAldrin Mars Cyclerî ñ a spacecraft system with perpetual cycling orbits between Earth and Mars. Additionally, he founded Buzz Aldrinís ShareSpace Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to addressing science literacy for children by igniting their passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

 

Dr. Aldrin will join over 3,000 participants expected in Israel for the conference which will convene many of the most influential professionals and academics in the world space scene. Significant attention is expected to be paid to discussions focused on the recent discoveries by the New Horizons space probe which photographed Pluto earlier this month.

 

The IAC is a professional platform through which over 40 administrative and technical committees support the International Astronautical Federation in its mission to advance knowledge about space and to foster the development of space assets by facilitating global cooperation.
