OTTAWA, MAY 27, 2015 – Ambassador Rafael Barak is pleased to welcome a delegation of 14 Israeli defence and security companies to Ottawa, as part of CANSEC 2015. These companies are attending Canada's premier defence trade show to seek partnerships with Canada and move forward on several joint ventures. The delegation is led by the Director of the International Defence Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Defence (SIBAT).
"The shared democratic values that guide the Canada-Israel relationship also guide our defence ties," said Ambassador Rafael Barak. "I am so pleased to welcome this delegation that opens up the potential to innovate together and create new technologies that will not only enhance the security of our populations, but also save lives around the world."
Recently, the Canada-Israel bilateral relationship has reached new heights with partnerships in a range of sectors, including defence and security. The Canada-Israel Strategic Partnership, which was signed during Prime Minister Stephen Harper in January 2014 and acts as roadmap for our ties, highlights collaboration between our defence and security industries by noting the importance of increasing R&D partnerships, defence material co-operation, and defence procurement opportunities.
According to Colonel Adam Susman, Israel's Defence Attaché to Canada, the delegation is an opportunity for Canadian defence industries to see all that Israel has to offer: "From cyber-security to UAVs and active defence systems to maritime security, all companies reflect Israel's global reputation as a leader in technological innovation and defence solutions."
Here is a list of the companies represented in the delegation: Elbit, Israel Military Industries (IMI), Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Rafael USA, Video Inform, Magam Safety, TAT Technologies, Seraphim, Israel Weapons Industries (IWI), MTC, Meprolight, Mistral, Aeronautics, and C.I. Systems.
