Montréal-Trudeau International Airport-based Fixed Based Operator Skyservice adds a new aircraft to its fleet of aircraft available for charter.
During a private event held in early February in the Skyservice hangar on boulevard Graham Boulevard in Dorval, a light twin engine Cessna Citation II business jet (Model 550) built in 1981 was introduced to potential customers.
With 7825 hours and 6576 landings, this Cessna Citation II had one of its two engines overhauled in 2005 and the other in 2007. So the two engines have respectively cumulated 601 and 360 flight hours. Moreover its exterior paint has been redone at the end of 2013 and the cabin, completely refurbished in the fall of 2014.
This light business jet can accommodate up to seven passengers including four in a Club seating pattern. For the comfort of its passengers, it offers a private lavatory equiped by a hard sliding doors and a fully functional galley.
Its cabin is 4 feet 8 inches (144cm) high and 16 feet (4,87 m) long and offers a 36 cubic feet cabin baggage compartment and a 44 cubic feet external baggage hold.
Certified RVSM, this Cessna Citation II is featured with a Bendix/King KLN90B GPS navigation system , a Collins autopilot, transponder and TCAS as well as a Sandel TAWS.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D- 4B providing 2500 pounds of thrust each, this Citation II displays a maximum cruise speed of 365knts or 675 km/h and can travel up to 1242 NM or 2300 km with four passengers. It allows to link Montreal and Toronto in one hour and 10 minutes as well as Montréal and New York and Montréal and Chicago in two hours and 18 minutes.
The Cessna Citation II whose maiden flight dates back to January 31, 1978 is the first member of the Model 550 family of light jets which also includes the Citation S/II and the Citation Bravo. 603 Citation II and S/II were built from 1978 to 1994, the Citation Bravo taking over until 2006 with 337 units sold. The 550 Model is an extension of the first Cessna business jet, the Model 500 or Citation I, which flew for the first time in September 1969 and whose production lasted until 1985 with 377 deliveries.
