Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland announced today that the Croatian Police has placed an order for one AW139 intermediate twin-turbine helicopter. With this order, the AW139 will enter for the first time in the Country, replacing an older model following a competitive tender issued by the Croatian Ministry of Interior.
The AW139 was chosen by the customer after a comprehensive evaluation process of competing bids, proving the AW139 to be the best value solution to meet its demanding mission and safety requirements. The project is co-financed with EU Internal Security Funds 2014/2020.
The Croatian Police AW139 configuration includes a high definition latest generation FLIR turret, HD video link system, searchlight, rescue hoist and a cabin mission console. The helicopter will be operated mainly in Border Control operations, including maritime tasks. The contract includes a significant training package, including the licensing of six pilots and 13 technicians.
The AW139 is a new generation medium twin-turbine helicopter setting new standards in its class. To date, orders for almost 840 AW139 helicopters have been placed by over 220 customers from almost 70 countries to carry out a wide range of missions including offshore transport, law enforcement and homeland security duties, EMS/SAR, utility, fire fighting, executive/private transport, and other government roles. A growing number of law enforcement and border security agencies have selected and operate the AW139 in countries such as Italy, the USA, Japan, Bulgaria, Chile, Oman, Brazil, The Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, UAE and China. The AW139 benefits from a range of modern, constantly enhanced and tailored support and training capabilities, designed to deliver outstanding mission effectiveness and safety standards whatever the mission, leveraging on the expanding network of AgustaWestland service and training centres worldwide.
