The Clean Sky, which is the largest aeronautical research program in Europe will be completed before the end of 2017 when all the demonstrators will have been tested. This Clean Sky program will be extended until 2025 within the Horizon 2020 program.
At this conference, there were presented mainly European achievements in different sessions regrouped as Innovative architectures, Noise reduction, Innovation, Eco-design, On-board energy management, Propulsion, Green and safe operations during these 3 days. An approximate number of 200 presentations were given.
Canadian universities, companies and research institutes may collaborate in the Clean Sky programs. Canadians are eligible to participate on a self-funded basis and may request funding from the European Commission if their work is essential to a project’s success. Canadians are well positioned for Horizon 2020.
The Canadian participants at this conference were Mr Sylvain Cofsky, the GARDN Network Manager, Mr James Corrigan and Mr Somen Chowdhury from Bell Helicopter Textron Canada, and Dr Ruxandra Botez from ETS in Montreal.
Worldwide programs on environment and fuel savings were presented at this conference, among which the Canadian programs were mentioned at ‘’the Plenary session on National Programs’’ by Mr Sylvain Cofsky.
Mr James Corrigan and Mr Somen Chowdhury from Bell Helicopter Textron Canada presented the AHS International committee information.
A short list of 14 best speakers and papers presentations was chosen for the Greener Aviation 2014 Award, and Dr Ruxandra Botez, Full Professor and Canada Research Chair Holder in Aircraft Modeling and Simulation at ETS in Montreal was one of the 14 selected speakers.
