Toulouse, 17 October 2017 – The regional turboprop manufacturer ATR (a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo), will attend the Seoul International Aerospace & Defence Exhibition 2017 (Seoul ADEX 2017), between the 17th and 22nd of October. The airshow provides ATR with an excellent opportunity to show the suitability of the ATR -600 series aircraft for the development and promotion of regional routes in Korea. ATR has been particularly successful in the region in recent years, including in Japan and in China. ATR has accumulated sales for some 550 aircraft in Asia Pacific. Seoul ADEX 2017 allows ATR to highlight its latest products and innovations to airlines, operators and the general public.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about ATR’s market leading -600 series aircraft, the 50-seat ATR 42-600 and the 70-seat ATR 72-600. Continuous development is at the heart of ATR’s philosophy and attendees will also have the chance to find out about the latest innovations that continue to keep the most modern and comfortable turboprop at the cutting-edge of regional aviation.
ATR recently certified the new Standard 3 avionics suite, which includes the RNP AR 0.3/0.3 (Required Navigation Performance with Authorisation Required) option which will enable airlines to operate in stringent conditions, notably in mountainous areas or congested traffic environments. This new avionics suite also includes the innovative ClearVision system which is a high technology head up display coupled with a terrain database derived from military technology, and ATR is the first manufacturer to offer this in commercial aviation.
The ATR -600 series aircraft owes its position as market leader to its exceptional versatility. It is used on a worldwide average of flights of 1 hour and 10 minutes and is capable of operating a variety of missions: it can operate on point-to-point thin routes, as an LCC aircraft, as a shuttle aircraft, and for island hopping, hub feeder and cargo operations. It is also a proven route opener, as 100 new routes were opened last year with ATR aircraft. The ATR -600 is the most efficient and economical regional aircraft, with an operating cost 20% lower than rival turboprops and 40% lower than regional jets. This efficiency also means that ATRs have the lowest environmental impact in regional aviation. Furthermore, the unrivalled performance and strong value of the -600 series have made it widely popular among the financial community.
