Ottawa, Ontario, March 2, 2017 – Lockheed Martin Canada is proud to partner with the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) and support the 2017 Clarkson Cup held Sunday March 5th at the Canadian Tire Centre, just a short skate away from Lockheed Martin Canada’s state-of-the-art Kanata facility.
“Lockheed Martin Canada is honoured to support this celebration of Canadian women’s hockey,” said Rosemary Chapdelaine, Vice President and General Manager of Lockheed Martin Canada Rotary and Missions Systems (RMS), who will be presenting the award for ‘Defenceman of the Year’ at the Awards Gala held Friday March 3rd. “In hockey, defence takes on a special status with the role of protecting the front of the net and keeping opponents from getting a good shot. As a defence company, Lockheed Martin Canada is aligned with similar objectives, putting our best engineers, scientists and program specialists forward to meet the defence needs of the Canadian Armed Forces and support our men and women in uniform with cutting edge technology.”
Brenda Andress, Commissioner of the CWHL, sees a natural partnership between Lockheed Martin Canada and the CWHL: “Lockheed Martin’s motto is ‘we’re engineering a better tomorrow.’” She added, “the Clarkson Cup and the CWHL also have an eye to a better tomorrow as the impact of the championship game is not just felt this weekend, but it will bear fruit in the years to come with girls and young women being inspired to achieve their maximum potential in sport and in all aspects of life.”
